The autopsy of a former MSU student who died Oct. 30 after a night of drinking showed a blood alcohol level of .4594, more than five times the legal limit for driving.
The Blue Earth County Medical Examiner’s Office completed the autopsy on Amanda Jax, 21, and described the cause of death as “Acute ethanol poisoning with a markedly elevated blood ethanol (alcohol) level.”
Mankato Police say they have completed their investigation with the autopsy results and plan to forward the information to the Mankato City Attorney’s office for “review of criminal and civil sanctions.”
An earlier Free Press story detailed a search warrant police executed at Sidelines Bar and Grill in downtown Mankato, where Jax went drinking with friends to celebrate her 21st birthday.
Credit card records and other information was collected during the search. The warrant detailed a night where Jax had several shots of liquor and was drinking Long Island iced teas before she had to be assisted out of the bar at 11:45 p.m.
She was found dead in a friend’s apartment the next morning at about 7 a.m.
