Another day, another shooting. Perspective may matter

Shootings seem to be occurring more frequently since December when 20 children were gunned down in a Newtown, Conn. school building.

We become a little desensitized to these events, it seems, when they trickle out over time. In newsrooms, the gallows humor tends toward thoughts like: "Only two dead, that's hardly news anymore."

But when we put the incidents together in one place, they seem a little more sobering or thought provoking.

Here are the headlines of  shootings (no where close to inclusive) The Free Press has tracked since Dec. 14 Newtown school shooting.

March 14, 2013. Cops kill suspect in deadly Upstate N.Y. rampage.

March 8, 2013. Two killed, one  hurt in Minneapolis shooting.

Feb. 13, 2013. Ex LAPD officer believed dead. His rampaged ended with four shot dead.

Feb. 11, 2013. Child, 10, killed in random Minnesota shooting.

Jan. 22, 2013. Texas college shooting, two wounded, one in custody

Jan. 21, 2013. New Mexico teen shoots five family members dead

Jan. 17, 2013. One confirmed dead in North Mankato standoff

Jan. 5, 2013. Four people dead after Colo. standoff.

Dec. 25, 2012. Minn. man charged in shooting that wounds 2 in Grand Rapids

Dec. 14, 2012. Connecticut shooting leaves 28 dead, including 20 children
