Madison Lake man drowns late Saturday

Canoe capsized; alcohol believed to be a factor

MADISON LAKE — A Madison Lake man drowned late Saturday night after a canoe he was in with another man capsized on Madison Lake.

The body of Rahmondo Moore, 39, was recovered from the lake near the Boat Landing Bar.

According to a press release Moore and Michael Grisson, 30, of Madison Lake were canoeing from the Boat Landing to Point Pleasant Resort when their canoe capsized. Grisson, who was uninjured, was able to swim to shore and call for help, shortly after 11 p.m.

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department, rescuers recovered Moore's body at 2 a.m. Sunday. His death appears to be from drowning.

The department said in a statement that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the accident. Neither man was wearing a life preserver and no life preservers were recovered from the scene.

Several area agencies assisted at the scene.
