Our View: Retirement about to become a crisis


Nearly half of Americans have smartphones, which carry expensive data plans. And while the entire U.S. economy grew 1.4 percent from 2005-2009, the video game industry grew by 10.6 percent in the same period.

This lifestyle is unsustainable and yet our economy is based on consumerism. We need a national dialogue that moves us from satisfying the now to better planning for the future; to accepting smaller sacrifices over the long run now to avoid an unfathomable bailout in the future.
