Commentary from Chicago

I keep an eye on the baseball coverage of the other teams in the AL Central, and I greatly enjoyed these lines from Rick Morrissey's column in Sunday's Chicago Tribune:

And that's what made Saturday so painful for the Sox. They would love it if Minnesota gave them some breathing room, but as it stands now, they can tell you if the Twins had garlic for dinner last night.

That's just the way it is. No need to bemoan the fact that the Twins are the bolted-down furniture of the Central. They're always going to be in the vicinity of first place, and until otherwise notified, you assume they're always going to be there. So you fight immovability with immovability.

...

All the things people say the Twins have—grit, resilience, heart—the Sox have too, though they haven't bought in bulk the way Minnesota has over the years.

You can read the whole piece here.
