Help Us: Tell us your ghost stories
The Free Press
The legend goes something like this:
There’s a bridge in North Carolina somewhere that was covered with black ice one cold winter night. A newlywed couple drove over it, lost control and drove off into a ravine. The husband was thrown from the car and died. The wife was killed inside the car, still dressed in her wedding gown. Ever since, the wife can be seen on dark, foggy nights, floating through the ravine dressed in white, endlessly searching for her husband.
According to a former North Carolina resident, folks in that area know this story well and tell it often to visitors and new residents. It got us to thinking about our area in southern Minnesota and what stories are being told around here.
We want your stories. If you have any family stories about ghosts or spirits, if your attic is said to be haunted by former residents, if local legends have you spooked on dark, foggy nights, write to Amanda here or at The Free Press, c/o Amanda Dyslin, 418 S. Second St., Mankato, MN, 56001.
