NORTH MANKATO — Less than a month after the inaugural event, a second "Picnic in the Park" talent and variety show has been scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on Monday at Wheeler Park.
The free event includes a selection of area performance and musical groups as well as times for audience participation.
The lineup includes: 5 p.m. — Opening and karaoke, 5:15 p.m. — Kristopher Hoehn; 5:30 p.m. — Summertime Jazz Trio; 5:50 p.m. — Maclaine Sandry; 6:05 p.m. — "Lessons in Water Safety," a play by Greg Abbott; 6:30 p.m. — haiku and karaoke; 6:50 p.m. — Joe Stuewe; 7:05 p.m. — Mankato Ballet Performing Company; 7:20 p.m. — Jason and Lydia Helder; 7:35 p.m. — Mankato Ballet Performing Company; 7:45 p.m. — haiku and karaoke; 8 p.m. — closing.
The events began with Elaine Hardwick of North Mankato, who wanted to organize a family-friendly activity to showcase the abundance of local fine arts talent. In addition to a Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council grant, she worked with more than a dozen area businesses and entities for support.
