Winter Solstice Party benefits CADA House, Salvation Army

Brandon Swopshire from Plastic Bag Boyz, a local Mankato rap group, cited the event as a personal achievement.

“I have dealt with homelessness, personally, and I have always wanted to contribute to the community like this,” Swopshire said. “It’s really a dream come true.”

Members of Plastic Bag Boyz have already contributed monetary donations, as well as their family members and spouses, but the group’s goal is to bring in as many families as possible.

“We really want people to bring their kids,” Swopshire said. “We have face painting and tons of stuff for the children to get involved, too.”

Swopshire said that the group’s performance will be slightly different from their usual set list, but just as energetic.

“We are trying to send a positive message out there to everyone and we are really looking to send out good vibes,” Swopshire said. “We want to allow people to have a good time and party for a good cause.”
