---- — MANKATO — The seventh annual Post-Holiday Extravaganza will be held Friday and Saturday.
Hosted by Mankato non-profit Midwest Art Catalyst, the two-day festival and fundraiser boasts a robust entertainment lineup, including:
Friday: Music begins at 10 p.m. at the What’s Up Lounge, including WarRooster, The Rockford Mules and Ghostwood Project;
Saturday: Bake sale, art raffle, silent auction and kids activities from noon to 5 p.m. at the Mankato Event Center (free admission); music begins at 9:30 p.m. at the What’s Up Lounge and includes Choke Cherry, Pretty Boy Thorson and the Falling Angels, Nato Coles and the Blue Diamond Band, and Old Towne Ghosts.
Admission is $6 per night or $10 for both nights (ages 21-plus only). All proceeds benefit the 410 Project art gallery in Mankato.
As for the Midwest Art Catalyst, the Mankato-based nonprofit largely comprised of visual and performing artists holds a few large events each year to fund art and music opportunities for area children.
Formed several years ago, partially as a response to budget cuts to arts and music programs in area schools, founding member Megan Hoogland said the mission hasn't changed.
"We are trying to keep art and music a priority in peoples lives," she said, "especially in our kids' lives."
