The Mankato Symphony Orchestra hosts its annual Candy Cane Concert at 3 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Mankato West High School.
Musician and actor Frank Babbitt of the Chicago Lyric Opera will read and perform portions of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” with musical accompaniment. Tenor Brad Benoit also returns with his “larger-than-life voice” and “unforgettable” sound.
Babbitt is a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra in Chicago and has performed with the Chicago Symphony, the Grant Park Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, and many other organizations in Chicago. Benoit currently heads the vocal program at Shattuck St. Mary's School. He has appeared with the Mankato Symphony singing the role of Alfredo in the opera "La Traviata" and as the Young Man in last year’s "To Be Certain of the Dawn."
