Blues master Debbie Davies performs Saturday at Hooligans

MANKATO — Blues guitarist Debbie Davies takes the stage on Saturday in the next installment of Minnesota State University's Performance Series.

The concert, which is co-sponsored by KMSU, begins 8 p.m. at Hooligans, located in the Madison East Center, 1400 E. Madison Ave. Opening the concert is the local blues band The Barefoot Winos.

Davies has received ten Blues Music Award nominations; in 1997 and 2010, she won the award for Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist.

Davies is a singer, songwriter, and guitar player who was mentored by the late blues guitar great Albert Collins. Blues Review Magazine says, “Debbie Davies pulls out all the stops. She can play it all: seductive, soulful material, down-home delta Blues, or humorous tales of life on the road.”
