On Tuesday, Oleander Saloon and Tune Town -- which were selling tickets for the triple bill that also included Enemy Planes and Mankato’s own Turned Out T.V. -- had only a dozen tickets left between them.
The Meat Puppets are no strangers to Mankato. The band that formed in 1980 -- later becoming a household musical name after performing alongside Kurt Cobain in an episode of MTV’s “Unplugged” series in 1993 -- last played here in 2009, also at the What’s Up Lounge.
The Meat Puppets are fresh off their April 2013 release “Rat Farm,” a generally well-reviewed effort that continues to showcase the band’s evolution toward a mellower, more folk-influenced sound.
