Season opens May 3 in new location
The Mankato Farmers Market opens its season 8 a.m. to noon on May 3 in its new location: the parking lot of the Best Buy store near Highway 22 and Adams Street.
The market has also hired Joe Strong as the new market manager and an activities director, Emily Nass, who is planning a variety of children's activities for Saturdays throughout the season, including crafts, face painting, seed planting, games and educational displays.
Further additions include picnic tables available for visitors and hourly, medallion-style hunts on Saturdays. For the hunts, one random plastic food item (fruit, vegetable, bun, etc) will be placed on one vendor's table each hour. The finder can turn the item in for $5 in market money.
The market will remain open 3:30-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
