MSU faculty close Good Thunder season

MANKATO — The 32nd season of Minnesota State University's Good Thunder Reading Series closes today with faculty writers Candace Black and Roger Sheffer.

In addition to a morning interview on KMSU 89.7 FM, the pair will lead a craft talk at 3 p.m. today in the Centennial Student Union's Ostrander Auditorium and hold a reading at 7:30 p.m. today in CSU room 253. All events are free and open to the public.

Black teaches in the creative writing program at MSU. Her book of poems, "The Volunteer," won the 2000 Minnesota Voices Prize and was published by New Rivers Press in 2003. A chapbook, "Casa Marina," won the 2009 Thomas Wilhelmus Award and was published by RopeWalk Press in 2010. Her creative nonfiction has been published in The Blueroad Reader, turnrow, and War, Literature and the Arts.

Sheffer has won several national short-story contests during the past five years, including those from Third Coast, Fugue, Yemassee, and Cream City Review. His most recent story collection is "Music of the Inner Lakes."
