— Time to get your hands dirty, folks.
There are a host of art classes and demonstrations at area galleries in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars now:
Ceramics workshop in St. Peter
The Arts Center of Saint Peter will feature an exhibition of work by a number of noted Minnesota ceramic artists beginning on Saturday.
A reception for “Minnesota Potters” will be held 1-5 p.m. on Saturday. During that time, the Arts Center will also host a ceramics workshop and gallery talk with Linda Christianson and Guillermo Cuellaron from 1-5 p.m. The workshop is free and open to the public.
Furthermore, a screening of the documentary “Minnesota Potters: Sharing the Fire” will be shown at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The exhibition, “Minnesota Potters: Sharing the Fire,” features the work of four of the best-known potters in Minnesota: Richard Bresnahan, Robert Briscoe, Linda Christianson and Warren McKenzie; and potters with whom those four have shared their knowledge and expertise: Guillermo Cuellar, Steven Lemke, Jason Trebs and Jil Franke. The exhibit celebrates the ways that knowledge, experience and spirit, and pottery as a tradition, are passed from person to person.
The Arts Center of Saint Peter is located at 315 S. Minnesota Ave., St. Peter. For more information, visit www.artscentersp.org or ‘like’ them on Facebook.
