NEW ULM — Mankato band Good Night, Gold Dust puts an exclamation point on a whirlwind summer during a concert at 8 p.m. today at The Grand Kabaret in New Ulm.
Opening the concert is Mankato musician Jenn Melby.
Since forming in 2010 around the founding duo of Laura Schultz and Colin Scharf, GNGD has shown itself to be a creative and ambitious mainstay on regional stages.
The band kicked off its spring and summer concert season in March by releasing a video for "Heaven-Sent," which combined black-and-white family film archives with live footage from a taping of "Bandwagon" at the Kato Ballroom. Not long after, GNGD embarked on a lengthy tour that carried them through the South By Southwest Festival in Texas.
Throughout the summer, the band played the Old Town Art Fair and Paddle Jam in Mankato as well as Fireside Junction in Plainview, Art on the Ave in St. Paul and the Sounds of Summer concert series in Milwaukee.
In June, the band debuted a second music video — this one for "Towards the Sun," the title track of the band's seven-song EP released in 2012.
