Merely Players auditioning for 'Little Shop of Horrors'
MANKATO — The Merely Players Community Theatre is holding auditions for its fall performance of the campy musical "Little Shop of Horrors."
Sessions include 2 p.m. on Sunday and 6 p.m. on Monday. An additional session for call-backs will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. All auditions are held in the auditorium at Lincoln Community Center, 110 Fulton St. Performances of the musical will be held Oct. 25-27 and Nov. 1-3, and will be directed by Lolly Foy.
Merely Players will cast four women (all ages) and three men (all ages) as well as a chorus of 10-15 neighborhood people (male and female, all ages). Some chorus roles will be small speaking roles but all will sing. Merely Players is also looking for a male actor with a bass voice to be the voice of the plant and a puppeteer to manipulate the plant from the inside.
Auditioners should be prepared to 16 bars (30-60seconds) of a song a capella. Those interested in a lead roll should also prepare a one-minute monologue. Participants do not need to have prior theatre experience and need to attend only one of the audition nights.
In addition, Merely Players is recruiting volunteers to work in stage management, set construction, costumes, props, and lights/sound. Those interested should email email@example.com or call Noelle Lawton at 507-388-5483.
