Registration nearing for beginner music lessons in Mankato schools

---- — MANKATO -- Mankato Area Public Schools' students may register for beginning lessons on stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, string bass and harp) and band instruments (flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, baritone and percussion) at the following times:

- Dakota Meadows Middle School: 3:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday in the music suite, 1900 Howard Drive, North Mankato;

- East High School: 4-6 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the music suite, 2600 Hoffman Road, Mankato;

- Rosa Parks Elementary School: 7-8:30 p.m. on May 28, 1001 Heron Drive, Mankato;

- Franklin Elementary School: 4-6 p.m. on May 28, 1000 North Broad Street, Mankato.

Lessons will be held August 19-23 at East High School or Dakota Meadows Middle School.

Students currently in fifth and sixth grades are eligible to sign up. Students should attend registration with parents so they can try out an instrument and find one that best fits them. Assistance will be provided for book, music stand and accessory purchases and instrument rentals.
