The Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps is hoping to continue its season's early successes during a competition this weekend at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium.
The competition will include 22 of the premier music ensembles from across the country as part of the Drum Corps International (DCI) regional circuit.
The St. Peter based group will perform their 2013 production, "Chasing Hollywood," at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday. This represents the Govenaires' third DCI performance this summer. The Govenaires previously performed in Rochester and Mankato two weeks ago, earning scores of 68.00 and 70.40 (the best start the corps has ever had at DCI shows).
Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and the first group will step off at 2 p.m. All of last year’s 12 finalist groups will perform, including the 2012 World Champion Blue Devils (from Concord, Calif.) and the 2012 runner-up and current points leader Carolina Crown (Fort Mill, S.C.).

Saturday’s competition at TCF Bank Stadium will be the last DCI performance for the Govenaires this season. After that, the group will once again compete in the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) circuit, where they hope to capture their fourth DCA Class A championship. The Govenaires’ DCA event, Drum Corps Expo, will be at St. Peter High School on August 17.
Founded in 1927 as the St. Peter Legion corps, the Govenaires have won three DCA Class A championships (2006, 2009 and 2011). This year's DCA Championships will be held Labor Day weekend in Annapolis, Md.
