Memorial Day observances planned in area

Memorial Day observances are planned throughout the area. Veterans will be honored at the following sites:

Mankato/North Mankato

Rep. Tim Walz will give a Memorial Day address 12:10 a.m. Monday at the Vietnam Memorial in Mankato near Stoltzman Road.

Military veterans and auxiliary members will be treated to doughnuts, rolls and coffee at the VFW Post 950; serving begins at 7 a.m. Monday.

Observances are scheduled:

8 a.m. - Korean Veterans Memorial

9 a.m. - Rapidan Township Memorial (American Legion Post 518); Pioneer Cemetery (American Legion Post 11); Pilgrims Rest (VFW Post 9713); Mount Olivet Cemetery (VFW Post 950).

9:25 a.m. - Calvary Cemetery (American Legion Post 11)

9:30 a.m. - Glenwood Cemetery (VFW Post 950).

9:45 a.m. - Oaklawn Nursing Home (American Legion Post 11)

10 a.m. - Kerns Cemetery (American Legion Post 518); Highland Park (American Legion Post 11); Mankato Lutheran Home (VFW Post 9713); Decora Cemetery (VFW Post 950).

10:45 a.m. - Minneopa Cemetery

11 a.m. - Woodland Hills Cemetery (American Legion Post 11); Kasota Cemetery (VFW Post 9713)

11:30 a.m. - Mankato House Health Care Center (American Legion Post 11)

Noon - Vietnam Memorial.

1 p.m. - World War II memorial.

2 p.m. - North Point Senior Living Facility (American Legion Post 518)


9 a.m. - Maple River West Middle School

2 p.m. - Old Sterling Church


9 a.m. - The park near the hospital

Blue Earth

10:30 a.m. - Riverside Cemetery


10 a.m. - Savidge Lake Cemetery, at school if it’s raining. Potluck afterward at Cleveland American Legion Hall

Eagle Lake area

8 a.m. - Burgess Cemetery

9 a.m. - Hillcrest Cemetery

10 a.m. - Tivoli Cemetery

11 a.m. - Eagle Lake Cemetery

11:30 a.m. - breakfast at American Legion Hall

Garden City

11:15 a.m. - cemetery (American Legion Post 294)


9 a.m. - Trinity Lutheran Cemetery

9:30 a.m. - Norwegian Grove Cemetery

10 a.m. - veterans memorial in city park

Good Thunder

10:15 a.m. - Lyra Cemetery


9 a.m. - Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton auditorium. Speaker: Waseca County Attorney Paul Dressler.


2 p.m. - Hebron Cemetery. Guest speakers C-130 Hercules pilot Air Force Capt. Adam Asleson and Rev. Rebecca Sullivan.
