MSU's 'Drowsy Chaperone'

Theatre-goers have one final chance to see one of Minnesota State University's most acclaimed actresses when productions of the "The Drowsy Chaperone" open this week.

Callie Syverson, a senior from Windom, won the prestigious Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship competition against more than 400 nominees during the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in January. She competes in the national finals later this month.

In the meantime, however, she is playing the role of starlet Janet Van de Graff in the production, which was described in a press release as a " musical within a comedy."

Performances of “The Drowsy Chaperone” are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Sunday as well as April 17-19; also 2 p.m. matinees will be held April 13 and 19. Tickets are $22 regular, $19 discounted and $15 for MSU students. Purchase tickets or find more information at MSUTheatre.com or 507-389-6661.
