MANKATO — The Mankato Symphony Orchestra will host the next edition of its "Viva Vivaldi" Family Concert Series at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The performance represents the third of four such events and will take place in the YMCA Exercise Room. The final family concert will be held April 5. The performances are free, suitable for all ages and last about 45 minutes. Each child takes home a gift of T-shirt and a snack at the end of each show.
The 2013-14 Family Concert Series honors the legacy and music of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. During this concert, the MSO Orchestra String Quartet will perform music from the spring movement of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."
Minnesota State University student Kristen Lucas stars as Vivaldi. Lucas has sung with the orchestra twice before in a minor role in the opera Carmen and in a starring role as Gretel in the opera "Hansel and Gretel."
