PLRAC announces Fellowship Grant winners
WASECA — The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council has announced the recipients of its PLRAC/McKnight Fellowship Grants.
The grants are intended to provide "professional, mid-career artists with financial support that enables them to further their work and their contribution to their communities." Applicants must reside in Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, or Watonwan County. Recipients and their projects include:
■ Greg Abbott, North Mankato: Stage his original family-friendly play and present it in Madelia as the high school’s spring play in 2014.
■ David Hyduke, Kasota: Purchase supplies to exhibit sculpture later in 2014 as well as enter a piece in the Mankato CityArt Sculpture Walk.
■ Leslie Laidlaw, Mankato: Purchase clay, glaze chemicals and other supplies to create new ceramic sculptures and exhibit his work later in 2014.
■ Nell Musolf, Mankato: Use funds to focus time on completing her novel for adult readers entitled, “The Forget-Me-Nots,” about people coping with Alzheimer’s. She plans a reading of her work in a community setting in 2014.
■ Denise Neushwander-Frink, Mankato: Use funds for time to write, rehearse and present the play, “The Other Side,” with both The United We Stand Players of New Ulm and Aktion Club Theatre of Mankato, two social justice theatre groups. A performance will be scheduled in fall/winter 2014 at Mankato West High School.
■ David Olson, Madison Lake: Purchase art supplies to create new pastel drawings for an exhibit at the Carnegie Arts Center in March 2014 and the Arts Center of Saint Peter in October 2014.
■ Amber Rahe, Mankato: Purchase art supplies to create new work for an exhibit in 2014 and also purchase a new camera to document her work.
■ Allison Roberts, Mankato: Purchase equipment, pay for art supplies and studio fees at Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis and host an exhibit at the Southern MN Recovery Connection in 2014.
■ Robyn Sand Anderson, New Ulm: Purchase arts supplies, attend an acrylic painting workshop in Sedona, Ariz., and have an exhibit in fall 2014 in New Ulm.
■ Joe Tougas, North Mankato: Crate and produce 12 original compositions for live performances throughout southern Minnesota in 2014.
