Author Martha Nussbaum to talk at MSU
MANKATO -- Minnesota State University will host scholar and author Martha C. Nussbaum at 7 p.m. Monday in the Ostrander Auditorium in Minnesota State University's Centennial Student Union.
Nussbaum will give a lecture titled "Not for Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities." A discussion will follow the presentation.
In her presentation, Nussbaum, the Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Philosophy at the University of Chicago, will address the following questions: How do we prepare students for the increasingly diverse and ever-changing needs of society? How do we better prepare students to become critical thinkers who can innovate, create and solve complex problems?

BEC Library's book club meets Tuesday
MANKATO -- The Blue Earth County Library will host its Book Discussion Club at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
They will be discussing "Hemingway and Gellhorn" by Jerome Tuccille. Film clips will be shown from the HBO film by the same name.

Prostate Health talk
WASECA -- The Mayo Clinic Health System of Waseca will host the next installment of its Speaking of Health series on Tuesday.
The presentation on prostate health will be held at 7 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic facility in Waseca. The speaker is Joe Lee, a urologist for Mayo Clinic Health System.

Michael Johnson next in MSU Performance Series
MANKATO -- The Minnesota State University Department of Music's Performance Series will feature Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Michael Johnson at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall.
Johnson's best-known songs include "Bluer Than Blue" and "Give Me Wings."
