MANKATO — A man sought by police in connection to a cab robbery was arrested Monday.
Someone called Mankato police at 4 p.m. to report seeing Timothy Lamont Ayers, 41, going into a residence in the 100 block of Van Brunt Street. Police didn’t find him at the residence but spotted him a short time later nearby, lost sight of him and set up a perimeter in the area. A Nicollet County K9 dog was brought in.
Ayers was spotted again, told to stop and ran between houses and jumped a fence. The dog located Ayers at about 5:30 p.m. hiding in a window well at a home in the 300 block of State Street.
He was arrested without incident and is in jail facing charges of aggravated robbery and for an outstanding warrant for credit card fraud, both felonies. He also faces charges of fleeing police on foot, a misdemeanor.
Ayers is suspected of robbing a Kato Cab driver early in the morning Dec. 8 on East Main Street.
The driver told police the man held a knife to his throat, demanded money and then left the area with an undetermined amount of cash.
