Virginia M. Vogel, age 86, of St. Peter, went to her heavenly home on July 2, 2009, at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 7, 2009, at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, with Father Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Virginia was born November 16, 1922, in Oshawa Township, Nicollet County, to Charles and Loretta (Grommersch) Keltgen. She was a graduate of St. Peter High School. She was united in marriage to Edmund “Eddie” Vogel on April 15, 1947. She was a lifelong St. Peter resident.
Virginia was employed for many years as a psychiatric technician and LPN at the St. Peter Regional Center until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and watching Twins baseball, volunteered and enjoyed helping others. She was also a member of the St. Peter VFW Auxiliary.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” (Lloyd) Thompson of Faribault; granddaughters: Julie Noakes of St. Anthony and Jennifer (Andy) Valek of Northfield; 5 great-grandchildren: Steven, Ashley, Alexi, Jake and Anikka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie, in 1996; an infant grandson: Jon David Thompson in 1969; 2 sisters: Bernice and Violet; and a brother, Ralph.
