Published September 28, 2008 10:01 pm - Barron Howard Grafing, 67, of Madison Lake, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato after a battle with brain cancer.

Barron chose to have cremation with private family services at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to The American Cancer Society.
Barron was born on November 6, 1940, to Barron Henderson and Marjorie Mildred (Stelling) Grafing in Pipestone, MN. He attended school in Luverne and Marshall, graduating from Marshall High School in 1958. After enlisting in 1958 he served his country in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. Barron served in the Vietnam War and on various ships deployed to the far east on a regular basis. He was united in marriage September 3, 1960, to Ada Louise (Chase) in Hammond, OR. Together they raised four children in different areas of the United States and Scotland. After his service with the Navy, Barron worked for a time with employers in Minneapolis and Mankato areas where he moved with his wife in 1990. He most recently worked with Midwest Electric and Home Depot.
Barron loved to spend time with his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood crafts. Barron touched the lives of all who knew him.
Barron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ada of Madison Lake; four children, Mary (Steve) Menz of Divide, CO, Alan (Jen) Grafing of Waseca, Mindy Grafing-Gwin of Madison, WI, Steven (Dawn) Grafing; six grandchildren, Patrick, Jessica, Annamarie, Zak, Chloe, Samuel; and two sisters, Karen (Leroy) Landin, and Sue (Richard) Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
