Published October 29, 2008 10:56 pm - LeRoy E. Daschner, age 60 of Janesville, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 pm at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Research or donor’s choice.

LeRoy Edward was born on May 9, 1948, in Mankato, Minnesota to Edward Willard and Violet Harriet (Kenyon) Daschner. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1966. LeRoy was united in marriage to Judy K. Cowdin on February 1, 1969, at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. They lived in Nicollet, then in 1975 moved to their home in Janesville Township, Waseca County. Over the years LeRoy worked as a machinist and was employed with Midtex of N. Mankato, Amco Inc. of Elysian, and most recently Mico Inc. of N. Mankato. LeRoy enjoyed riding his Harley, sprint car racing, classic car restoration, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, and the Smiths Mill/Janesville Sportsman’s Club.

He is survived by his wife Judy; and his children Mark (Karey) Daschner of Armstrong, IA, Michael (Sherri) Daschner of Waldorf, Lori (Taff) Shoultz of Janesville, and Janelle (Cliff) Waters of Janesville; by ten grandchildren; by his mother Violet Daschner of Eagle Lake; by his siblings Leon (Patty) Daschner of Eagle Lake, Lee (Cheryl) Daschner of Elysian, Lynn Daschner of Janesville, Harriet Hutcherson of Mankato, Irene (Jerry) Sorum of Medford, and Eileen (Dick) Jewison of Eagle Lake; by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Francis and Donna Cowdin of Janesville; by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary (Dennis) Conrad of Janesville, Tom (Rita) Cowdin of Janesville, Joyce (Ken) Walters of Bloomington, Tena (John) Harris of Bloomington, and David (Gail) Cowdin of Pemberton; by many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1976; his nephew Brian Jewison; brothers-in-law Gary Hutcherson and David Schweim; and by his grandparents.
