Alton J. Stevermer, 82, of Apple Valley, MN, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Augustana Health Care Center of Apple Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at OLMC Catholic Church in Easton, Minnesota. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 from 1-4 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in OLMC Catholic Cemetery in Barber Township, Faribault County, MN. Father Eugene Stenzel and Deacon Gene Paul will officiate. Arrangements are with Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.

Alton was born July 6, 1927, the son of Leo A. and Ellen G. (Sipple) Stevermer in Easton, MN. On August 20, 1959 he married RoseMary Kelly in Britt, IA. Alton farmed outside Easton for many years and was a carpenter. Alton enjoyed making things for those he loved. Friends and family remember him being quiet and gentle—he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife RoseMary Stevermer of Apple Valley, MN; 5 children: Mary Jo (Rick) Johnson of St. Paul, MN, Pat (Sherry) Stevermer of Savage, MN, Greg (Annie) Stevermer of Rochester, MN, Donna Stevermer of Farmington, MN, Laura Stevermer of Savage, MN; 9 Grandchildren: Mandy, Chris, Dan, Katie, Rebecca, Zachary, Clare, Xavier, Dominic; 1 brother: Kenny (Janice) of Albert Lea, MN; 3 sisters: Jane (Gene) Paul of Delavan, MN, Lois (Ray) Kalis of Wells, MN, Mary Ellen Olerking of Owatonna, MN; 1 brother-in-law: Robert Redington and 1 sister-in-law: Jane Stevermer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Fern and 1 brother Howard.
