Richard H. Roemer

Richard H. Roemer passed at his home on Sunday evening, November 1, 2009.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home and will also continue one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Rick was born in Mankato on June 10, 1950 to Greg and Dorothy (Dauk) Roemer. He lived in Emmetsburg, IA and Kirksville, MO before returning to Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1968. Rick was a unique character. Anyone that met him definitely remembered him for his humor and pseudo-tough guy exterior. Mix those qualities with a dry wit and a huge heart and you have the essence of Rick. Rick and Sue (Fallenstein) were married in Mankato and would have celebrated 40 years together on December 27. They spent several years in Jackson and Fairmont before a job transfer brought them back to Mankato. Rick was a loving husband and wonderful father, providing love and guidance to his children, Rachel and Colin. Rick was fond of hunting, fishing, boating, and golfing (as long as he was hitting them well). “How’s she going?” was his favorite greeting, and if you heard it, you knew that was Rick’s way of telling you he cared about you. Most of his work years were spent in the refuse business, starting with FFF Inc. and ending as District Manager of Waste Management in Mankato.

Rick goes to reunite with his infant son, his parents, and his brother. He will be remembered with deep love by his wife Susan (Sue) of North Mankato, daughter Rachel Roemer of Mankato, son Colin (Cara) Roemer of Apple Valley, and especially by his 2 grandchildren, Drew and Finley Roemer, who were the light of his life. Rick is also survived by his sister Suzanne (Al) Harty of Kasson, brothers, Jim (Vicky) Roemer of Mansfield, TX, Ron (Patsy) Roemer of Lakeland, MI, and Greg (Vickie) Roemer of Irving, TX.
