Your View — Separation of church, state is important

I’m writing in response to the Your View letter regarding Ben Stein’s “documentary” “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” posted by Mitchell Wallerstedt and published Tuesday.
I couldn’t agree more with Wallerstedt’s points on the film. I agree that the documentary is a skewed representation (to say the least) of what really goes on when someone makes their ideas known in our society. There is a real difference between “belief” and “fact,” and this cannot be disputed. ‘Belief’ should never be taught in a public school, no matter what the subject. I would encourage other free thinkers, secularists, Brights, agnostics, atheists, or whatever you “label” yourselves, to stand up and make your voice heard.
With the upcoming presidential election, now it will be more important than ever to emphasize what founded our country and has helped to make it so great: Separation of church and state.
