The Oct. 10 Our View about “Celebrate Independent’s Day” talked about how people are leaving the two major political parties. Extreme views and big money are corrupting our political system.
I spent some of the summer at several county fairs, listening to people’s stories about these two parties. I am so glad to be part of the Independence Party.
In Southern Minnesota, we had more people join our party than at any time in our 12-year history. We do not accept PAC money or lobbyists’ money or gifts. We ask the same of our candidates.
We work only on the main issues and not the extreme issues. We will fix what the other parties have broken. Transportation, education, health care and the environment are our main issues. But we will eliminate the duplication of state services, make it easier to deal with state agencies and lower taxes.
Some of you may have grown up as Democrats or Republicans. Your parents may have brought you up in these parties. But are these parties giving you the type of government you deserve?
Big taxes, big government and two parties that don’t know the art of compromise. Democrats tax you and Republicans borrow money by bonding. Either way, your children will pay the cost.
It’s time for a change. Less government, less taxes and a party that knows how to compromise.
