Your View: Vote yes and keep our families as we know them

Leona M. Roth, Mankato

— For 86 years, I have been an American. Sixty seven of that I have had a loving relationship with my husband.

We have three children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Our desire is that they will all enjoy the privilege that we have had — that they will grow up in the country of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and have the blessing of a family that contributes to growth and freedom that we have had in America.

What concerns me is that a same-sex couple desiring marriage, in 67 years will they have a family that will continue the growth of our country and that will have the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in our great America?

Voting “yes” on the marriage amendment is our assurance that what our 24 family members have now, they will have for the future.
