A consulting engineer in California making $125,000 per year under ObamaCare says he can buy the lowest grade policy with a $5,000 deductible for $482 a month. His girlfriend, who makes $18,000 per year working as a part-time postal clerk, can buy the same policy for $1 per month.
If the engineer wants to upgrade his policy to a low-deductible premium policy like the one he had with his last employer, his cost would go up to $886 per month or $10,632 per year. But his girlfriend can upgrade her policy to the very same level for $4 per month, just $48 per year, subsidized by the engineer.
ObamaCare is not about dealing with inequities in the health-care system. That’s just a cover story. The real story is that it is a massive, political power grab. Do you think anyone who can insure himself with a premium policy for $4 per month will vote for anyone but the political party that provides him such a deal?
ObamaCare is about enabling, subsidizing and expanding the left’s political power base at taxpayer expense. Why would a woman vote for anyone but a Democrat if she can have babies for $4 a month or even go to college or strive for a better job or income if it means having to pay real money for health-care coverage?
You could substitute the $15 minimum wage argument into the same scenario. It’s all about political power.
