In a recent editorial, you discussed moving the Blue Earth County Fair to Mankato and building a new hockey facility. You said it's a long drive to Garden City.
Well, if you live in the southern part of Blue Earth county, it's a long drive to Mankato. Maybe we could build a shopping mall in the center of the county so we wouldn't have to make that long drive to Mankato.
Yes, the buildings at the fairgrounds need some work. But, it would be a lot cheaper to fix them up and build different buildings for hockey.
I live in the LCWM school district and am not happy with my taxes because of our new school. But, I think it is my responsibility to educate our youth as others did for my children.
I do not think it is the taxpayers' responsibility to build a sports facility.
I am a Gopher football and Mavericks hockey season ticket holder, but, I don't think the general public should have to pay for stadiums. Just like the Twins and Vikings stadiums, the people who don't like sports should not have to build them.
Hopefully, our county commissioners will think about this when the time comes to vote on it.
