Taxpayers shouldn’t pay cleanup cost
A recent Free Press article concerning the contaminated Super America site is disturbing to me.
When the owner bought the property he either knew of the risk of contamination or he is a poor businessman. In either case, I don’t believe the city should have to pay for his problem.
He should incur the costs of clean up even if it jeopardizes the project. Business people are risk takers and should be rewarded accordingly, not constantly bailed out by taxpayers.
