Roundabouts will fix poor pavement

Another good roundabout question from a Free Press reader on June 25. This is a message we feel very strongly about getting out to the taxpayers.

The pavement on Highway 22 in Mankato is 25 years old and significantly damaged at the intersections with Madison Avenue and Adams Street from all of the truck traffic. Approximately 70-80 percent of the cost of the $7 million Highway 22 roundabout project is to replace deteriorated pavement. In fact, the Madison Avenue intersection’s need to be rebuilt initiated the review and the resulting evaluation to build the roundabouts.

Thank you for the opportunity to address these concerns!
