Your View: Students aren’t machines, schools aren’t factories

In the past year, I have heard two people say “every third-grade student should be reading at third-grade level at the end of the school year.” One person was a legislator and the other represented the chamber of commerce.

Their opinions did not represent reading research.

Students learn according to their individual potential. They are not machines and schools are not factories.
