MSU, attorney owe Hoffner apology

This letter is my very first to any newspaper. I’m not a journalist nor a reporter — just a subscriber to The Free Press for many years.

MSU former football coach Todd Hoffner and his wife Melodee are a professional, well-educated couple who have been investigated, terribly-wronged and judged. The order of Judge Krista Jass dismissed all charges. How shameful that Minnesota State University’s leadership and the assistant Blue Earth County attorney have not come forth to apologize to Todd and his wife. How cruel and hurtful is that?

Should Dr. Richard Davenport be investigated? Evidently, the leadership doesn’t have any faith in our judicial system.

It’s great that the alumni and the Touchdown Club are there for Hoffner. If I were Dennis Hood, (former president of the Touchdown Club), I’d share with MSU that I had a change of heart and ask for your $25,000 donation back. That would serve them right.

Being a cheerleader in my high school and college years, I’m leading the most amazing cheer ever for Todd Hoffner — that he be reinstated as head football coach at MSU — but only if he chooses this late in the game. Or he may choose to sue MSU for millions of dollars which he so richly deserves after going through this horrendous nightmare. I have been so visibly upset and angered by this whole situation I can’t believe it.
