Your View: Be a good Minnesotan citizen, don’t litter

Katie Sutter, Mankato

— As I drive along our roadways — be they paved or gravel — every day appears to be Trash Day to a significant number of people.

Not only do they seem to care little about all the people needed to pick up after them because of their blatant laziness, they are making it clear that they have little respect for our beautiful state, Minnesota.

Besides all the impressive scenic splendor of the lakes and forests, there are varieties of sweeping croplands that represent the dedication of hard-working farmers.

It’s very sad to see the litter by thoughtless folk who don’t appreciate the beauty and bounty of their home state.

Please think twice the next time you are tempted to toss litter out the window.

Pollution comes in many forms, don’t be a contributor.

Being a good citizen isn’t so much about what you do, but what you don’t do. Don’t pollute.
