Hundreds of starry-eyed brides-to-be braved bitterly cold temperatures Saturday to attend the KDOG Bridal Show at the Kato Ballroom in Mankato. Some newly engaged ladies with reluctant fiancés, exasperated mothers and panic-stricken fathers in tow were there to catch the style show and get a few ideas, while a few others — with their weddings rapidly approaching, were able to finalize some lingering details and decisions today.
Food, flowers, fashion and photography were the main attractions. A local florist provided all the ladies in attendance with a single long-stemmed rose, catering vendors handed out a variety of samples ranging from cake, wine, pizza, and appetizers, bands played, candles flickered atop perfectly co-ordinated place settings and life-sized photo images of happily married couples loomed at every corner.
In the midst of it all, Jonathan Schlingman and Kristin Hunt (pictured above) take a moment to slip from all the commotion and focus for a second on what matters most and what lead them to planning their own upcoming wedding — each other.
