MANKATO — The Free Press is sponsoring its annual Mother’s Day essay contest, this year asking the question: What trait are you proud to have inherited from your mother?
Do you see her eyes when you look in the mirror? Do you share the same boisterous laugh? Maybe it’s her giving nature, or her belief in the importance of carrying on family traditions.
Write to us about it. Essays should be 200 words or less. Please include your mother's name (maiden name in parenthesis), writer's name, address and phone number.
You may include a picture of your mother.
Gift certificates of $25 will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place essays. The deadline for entry is Monday, April 21.
Some of the essays will be published in a special section of The Free Press on Mother’s Day.
E-mailing your entry is preferred by clicking here. Put Mother's Essay in the subject line.
Or mail your essay to Mother’s Day Essays, c/o Amanda Dyslin, 418 S. Second St., Mankato, MN 56001.
