Second degree murder charge will stand

A grand jury has decided not to bring more serious first-degree murder charges against a St. Peter man accused of killing his infant daughter.
Second-degree murder charges will stand against Jeremy Jonason, 20, who is accused in the death of 9-week-old Gracie Jonason in September.
Nicollet County Attorney Mike Riley felt enough evidence existed for a grand jury to consider upgrading charges against Jonason, who was arrested for the murder Feb. 13 following a lengthy investigation.
First-degree murder involves premeditation; second-degree murder does not.
