A level 3 predatory offender set to be released from prison Monday will be under intense supervision, including at least a month under constant surveillance through a global positioning system monitor attached to his ankle.
About 150 people turned out Wednesday at the Le Center High School Gymnasium to get information about 26-year-old Christopher Daniel Schueler, a convicted sex offender who will be moving to Cordova Township south of Le Center. Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Corrections answered questions after providing information about Schueler’s background, and predatory offenders in general.
“Sex offenders are always among us,” said Michele Murphy, DOC community notification coordinator. “They’re always going to be among us. We have the right to know about some of them.”
Schueler is one of the relatively few to receive a community notification meeting before his release. Murphy said it’s likely Le Center residents are going to see him in the community. One reason is he’s going to be required to find a job, and she encouraged people to call law enforcement or Schueler’s probation agents if they have any concerns.
