MANKATO

He led them through the woods and into the river, but in the end, it was police who had the last laugh.

Curtis Rathai, 39, of Mankato was arrested Sunday and could face charges of fleeing police, contempt of court, obstruction of the legal process and disorderly conduct

Police say they were called to Land of Memories Park for a report of several people yelling at each other. When they arrived, police say all the shouters had quieted, except for one.

From the woods a man later identified as Rathai continued shouting expletives, even after he was informed the people he was now shouting at were police officers.

Police chased the man through the woods until they heard a loud splash. Rathai swam across the river where he was greeted by a North Mankato police officer. Still he refused to comply, and the North Mankato officer used a Taser to stun Rathai and then arrested him.
