Early a.m. fire displaces residents

Mankato firefighters responded to a house fire at about 1:30 a.m. today at 402 Hubbell Ave.

A passerby had called 911 then alerted residents of the duplex about the fire. Fire personnel arrived and found an exterior porch on fire with flames spreading up the exterior of the building. Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire before it spread into the building.

No one was injured. Damages are estimated at $12,000.

Residents of one of the affected apartments were placed in temporary housing while the other residents returned to their apartments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
