The Center for Rural Policy & Development released its latest edition of the Rural Minnesota Journal. The 145-page volume contains eight articles examining the challenges and advances for women in rural Minnesota.
“Author after author found that these women face unique challenges when it comes to caring for their children and their elderly parents, finding a job or even navigating the health-care system,” said Brad Finstad, executive director, in statement.
Contributing authors include: Martha McMurry and R. Thomas Gillaspy of the Minnesota Demographic Center; Madeleine Alberts of the Children, Youth and Family Consortium at the University of Minnesota; Cecil Gassis and Anne Ganey of the YWCA of Mankato; Donna Rae Scheffert of the Center for Community Vitality at the University of Minnesota; Doris Mold of Sunrise Agricultural Associates in St. Paul; Jan Hively, University of Minnesota Senior Fellow (retired); Kristen Tharaldson and Angie Sechler, Office of Rural Health & Primary Care at the Minnesota Department of Public Health; and Mary Mathews of the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund in Duluth.
The issue can be viewed and downloaded for free at the center’s Web site: www.ruralmn.org
