ST PETER — Three finalist candidates, all with local ties, have been named for the Nicollet County administrator position.
On Monday the County Board will interview Aitkin County Administrator Patrick Wussow, Stewartville City Administrator Bill Schimmel Jr. and Yellow Medicine County Administrator Ryan Krosch.
The board anticipates filling the post by Jan. 1. The new hiree will replace Bob Podhradsky, who retired this summer. County Auditor-Treasurer Bridgette Kennedy has been serving as administrator in the interim.
Wussow is from the St. Clair area, Krosch hails from the Vernon Center area, and Schimmel is the son of former Nicollet County Board Member Bill Schimmel Sr.
“All three of these folks want to ‘come back home,’ if you will, so that presents this board with an interesting set of challenges,” Commissioner Jack Kolars said.
The three finalists were among 25 applicants.
Wussow formerly worked as the North Mankato city planner and has served as city administrator in Tonka Bay and Big Lake.
Schimmel served as an administrative intern for North Mankato and has also held the position of general manager for North Star Aviation in Mankato and City Administrator for Princeton.
Krosch previously served as Community and Economic Development Director for the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission and in a similar capacity with the Mid-Minnesota Development Commission.
The Nicollet County Board opted in May to re-open the candidate search after it failed to come to an agreement on the initial group of three finalists. Wussow was one of those finalists.
