Jack Link's donating $10,000 to Mankato area schools

MANKATO — Jack Link’s Beef Jerky will present a $10,000 check to Mankato Area Public Schools during the School Board meeting Monday.

This will be the second year Jack Link’s has donated to the school district. Last year, Mankato Area Public Schools purchased PLAYAWAY MP3 players for use in its elementary school libraries.

The brand’s latest donation will continue to enhance the district’s educational tools.

“This year, the funds provided by Jack Link’s will go toward our English Language Learners Mobile Learning Initiative,” Supt. Sheri Allen said in a statement. “The district will purchase iPad Minis to give these students access to technology to meet their individual learning needs, including specifically selected textbooks in digital and audio format, text reading apps, language videos and digital guides with dictation software.”

Each year Jack Link’s hosts a golf tournament in which employees, vendors, customers and local supporters raise funds in support of education.

The 2012 tournament raised funds for the donation to Mankato Area Public Schools as well as donations to districts in five other Midwest communities in which Jack Link’s has facilities.
