Dispatchers aid in rescue of lost hikers

ST. PETER — Dispatchers guided three lost hikers toward rescue personnel Tuesday night at Seven Mile Creek County Park.

Nicollet County Sheriff's Office responded about 5:30 p.m. to a call from the three adults — two from Montgomery and a third from Le Center.

Dispatchers used the hikers' 911 calls to track their movements along the trails. Rescue personnel located them about 7 p.m. The hikers did not require medical attention.

Deputies said the hikers were not carrying park trail maps when they set out earlier in the day. As night fell, they became disoriented.

The 628-acre park, located along Highway 169 between St. Peter and Mankato, offers 10 miles of trails.

The State Patrol, Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department and North Mankato police assisted in the search.
